Prioritize your self-care, joy and pleasure.
In the midst of challenging times it can be really difficult to allow ourselves to experience pleasure and rest. Productivity and forward movement is often highly valued over stillness and reflection. And when we're giving, showing up, serving and giving some more without refueling the tank we can go from gratitude to drained quickly. This four week intro to messy movement session is designed to help you slow down and reconnect your body to a sense of pleasure and rest.
But what happens when time is an enemy and downtime is really just minimal sleep or perparing for the next surge of caregiving for the day? How do you prioritize pleasure when time doesn't feel to be on your side?
In a survey I asked the Messy Movement Community this question:
What is the most challenging thing about sticking to your self-care pratice?
I was grateful for the folks who felt comfortable enough to share pieces of their journey with me. I love talking about our connection to pleasure, rest and radiance. But how do we get there? How do we make our practices and rituals tangible enough that they fit into the flow of our day to day lives?
So how can you apply this your 4-week series? Here are some ideas:
Schedule the dates when you will attend class live and be intentional to plan ahead and clear your time block as much as you can.
Talk to your family or housemates about this dedicated time for yourself.
Watch your class replay in 15 segements once per day in between live classes.
Commit to moving just for five minutes v. planning to move for one full hour.
Be gracious with yourself when scheduling fails and best plans are pushed aside by life. Remember we can get creative with finding consistency.
Tapping into our self-care practice is one of our primary pathways to reconnecting to our experience of pleasure. Which is why I created Messy Movement 4-Week Intro Series. If you're ready to find tangible ways to make space for yourself, to slow down, to reconnect to your body and recharge your battery then I want you to join me for this experience.
