Low impact sensual cardio for holiday stress relief.

As a caregiver to my mom, I have many days where the guilt just tries to eat away at me. Anyone else resonate?

The guilt of not being able to carry it all.

The guilt of not being right there in the moment. The anger of navigating so much violence while advocating for her care.

The uncertainty of devoting so many financial resources to care and also understanding it is your duty.

The anger of being my mother’s only living child.

The anger of complex family dynamics.

Not necessarily the way we want to imagine the Holidays.

Even with the chaos and sadness that the holidays are stirring, my mothers smile brings me to my knees. I would fight 10,000 battles in her name.

As I’ve been navigating these blows to my psyche and my nervous system, I’ve been slowly calling myself back to my practice.

Acknowledging the pain first and foremost because I cannot solve something that I am not willing to name as a problem. I cannot heal something where I only see myself as a powerless.

I had to work with and keep naming my pains until my body could see that I was listening. This provided more stimulation to move on days when my heart was/is heavy.

It started with a five minute practice for a couple days, then 15 minute practice for a few weeks and worked my way up to multiple 60 minute sessions back to back in the same week. My goal with this movement in particular was to work with my stress and resistance levels in a gentle way. Tracking my data. Seeing how my body responds and nourishing from there.
